Relax on an Adirondack

Living green is something we all want to do. We recycle newspapers, cans, bottles and plastics of all sorts so they can be a component of something new and be useful in our lives. But what about the economics of all this. With the abundance of front porches and backyards in Lakewood, we are big consumers of outdoor furniture. Whether its a porch swing, glider or some rattan chairs we enjoy being comfy while hanging out with family and friends.

I personally love Adirondack Chairs! They are roomy, have broad armrests where I can set my coffee cup in the morning and my lemonade at night. I would love to buy one of the Adirondack chairs made from recycled materials but at $200 or more, they are coming in just over my budget. While that hits you hard, when you realize the life you will get from the chair and the good looks it will retain without painting or staining, then it become much more palatable.

Take a look at your options for that Adirondack Chair.

These chairs (left multicolored) are made of polywood and are available locally here in Lakewood at Great Gardens Ltd. located at 14235 Detroit Avenue. They sell for $ 239 and look really well made. If these are within your budget, you will not be disappointed in the quality of these chairs.

Here is a Hardwood Aspen Adirondack Chair from Outdoor Furniture Plus and it sells for $ 178 (photo on right -chair in photo is white but other colors are available.)

And while the Polywood chairs offer various styles they also come in varying prices. Here is one also in white that sells for $299, but they are generous and include free shipping. Available at AdirondackChairs.com

And for those on a real budget, there are the durable resin, lightweight Adirondack Chairs from Lowes for only $17.

Nothing stimulates the senses like the smell of fresh baked breads, baquettes, or rosemary focaccia fresh from the oven. Tom and Adria Clark, the owners of Blackbird Baking Company on the west edge of Lakewood have brought their skills to us from Portland, Oregon. Their bakery is a sleek modern operation with a broad menu of artisan breads, rolls, even some pastries. Bread fans will go nuts for Blackbird’s European-style baguettes, focaccia and ciabatta. Sweets fans will head straight for the pecan sticky buns, cherry scones, apricot croissants and dreamy chocolate chip cookies.
